Post-Doctoral Fellowships at MIT

Post-Doctoral Fellowships at MIT

The Progetto Rocca awards up to two 12 months post-doc Fellowships a year to recent Politecnico PhDs in the areas of materials science, mechanical engineering, bioengineering and life sciences, energy, electrical engineering and computer science. Projects that focus on buildings, infrastructure and planning will be considered only if they privilege mathematical and physical modeling and the novel use of materials. The Rocca Post-Doc Fellowships privilege projects that will sustain long-term collaboration between MIT and POLIMI labs, and candidates who will continue their research at POLIMI after their MIT stay. Hence the focus on the PI’s on both sides of the collaboration.

The deadline for the submission is April 15th. The selection will be made by the Progetto Rocca Board members.

What are we looking for?

These Rocca Post-Doc Fellowships are meant to recognize and support young researchers of exceptional promise, but also to encourage ambitious collaborations between MIT and POLIMI faculty. The merits of the proposed collaboration will be essential in selecting the Fellows.

What amounts are awarded?

Awards will be commensurate to the length of stay.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must have held their doctoral degree from POLIMI for no longer than 2 years and are expected to return to their POLIMI lab for at least one year of funded research after their stay at MIT.

What is the duration?

Proposals must cover a two-year span. In the second year, we expect the Rocca post-doc fellows to return to Politecnico to continue working on their project with funding provided by the Politecnico Principal Investigator.

How to submit a proposal?

The proposals may be submitted either by a MIT or POLIMI faculty, and must be signed by two Principal Investigators—one from MIT and one from POLIMI. Only faculty with a PI status can sign.
